The NIKKOR Z 28-400mm f/4-8 VR is both small and light for a lens with this sort of flexibility and range, making it very portable and an ideal all-day companion. Coming in at only 725g and just over 14cm long it won’t weigh you down over a long trip or be troublesome to throw in your bag.

Set the control ring your way
The control ring on the NIKKOR Z 28-400mm f/4-8 VR is default set to operate focus when you want to do this manually. However, it can also be assigned to change the aperture, exposure compensation and many other controls, depending on how you like to work.
Lock that zoom for extra peace of mind
The NIKKOR Z 28-400mm f/4-8 VR has a handy zoom lock switch, which prevents the lens from extending while you’re walking around with it attached to the camera.
Get close – real close!
With a minimum focus distance of just 0.2m at the wide-angle end and 1.2m at telephoto, this is a lens that can get really close to the subject, while the 0.35x maximum reproduction ratio enables amazing close detail in your images. Be warned though, with the lens hood on you might get so close you’ll touch your subject!
